The premiere of Paul McCartney’s new song will be an announcement of his debut on the 2024 tour

Finally, Paul McCartney has kicked off his 2024 leg of the Got Back Tour, officially debuting a new Beatles song on the setlist.

On October 1, 2024, McCartney and his band played a concert at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay. Most of the setlist looked similar to the former Beatles star’s previous performances, but there were a few tweaks.

The biggest of these was the official live debut of “Now and Then”, the Beatles’ “final” song, which was released in November 2023. He performed it at a public rehearsal, but this is its official live debut because it was played in a real concert. The song was played after the John Lennon tribute “Here Today” and before two other piano-accompanied songs: “New” and “Lady Madonna”.

He also continued to play “She’s a Woman,” a Beatles song that McCartney began playing during the 2023 leg of the tour. This is the B-side of the non-album single “I Feel Fine” by the Fab Four. McCartney continued to play “Jet” after being introduced to the 2022 tour.

Otherwise, the setlist remained similar to Macca’s other performances. Setlist hits such as “Maybe I’m Amazed” and “Band on the Run” were played.

The show opened with “A Night After a Hard Day”. He mainly used it as a set opener from 2016 to 2019, then dropped it on “Can’t Buy Me Love” in 2022 when the Got Back tour began. Starting with some shows in 2023, they returned to “A Hard Day’s Night.”

Setlist cuts

Another notable omission is “Fuh You” from Egypt Station. Since its release in 2018, the song has been streamed 72 times. It was only performed in 12 of 18 shows in 2023, so it appears to have been withdrawn.

There are 22 concerts left on the schedule, so expect further changes to the set list. Songs like “Love Me Do” can alternate with other Beatles songs like “From Me to You.” “New” can be replaced with “Queenie Eye”.

He also cut two songs from the Beatles’ album “Abbey Road”: “You Never Give Me Your Money” and “She Came In Through the Bathroom Window”.

Both songs were played on the 2022 and 2023 tours. However, McCartney apparently abandoned these two songs, which are part of the famous “Abbey Road” medley.
