Folktellers Studios in Royal Oak releases “Hero’s Journey The Series,” a music-filled animated concert series that combines the magic of live performance with animated film.

This one-of-a-kind event features Slight Return, an award-winning rock band that brings history to life on the big screen in a live concert.

Premiering November 6 at Emagine Theater EMX in Royal Oak, “Hero’s Journey The Series” takes audiences on a journey through time, sound and history.

At the center of the musical saga is Theophilus O’Dell George, affectionately known as “Gorgeous George.” Its story begins on the dirt roads of Arkansas and continues through stages of The Chitlin’ Circuit, a historic network of juke clubs and theaters where African-American performers shaped the future of music.

The mystical journey is narrated by a magical, wandering ball that casts a shadow over George’s every step, charting his career as one of the track’s most important masters of ceremonies. Through the eyes of Gorgeous George, viewers will witness the animated entertainment legends who left their mark on this iconic tour.

The series celebrates the resilience and loyalty that fueled the track stars and inspired an “entertainment revolution.”

Featuring legendary icons such as Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, Isley Brothers, Buddy Miles, Ike and Tina Turner, Little Richard and more, the series captures the magic of the Chitlin’ Circuit in in a way that has never been seen or heard before.

Tickets are now available here.

Folktellers Studios brings together the talents of veterans from the film, music, television, gaming and literature industries to create unforgettable, immersive experiences.
