Galaxy Wearable update brings One UI 6 watch faces to Samsung Wear OS 4 smartwatches

• Samsung’s wearables were the first to launch with Wear OS 5, but the tech giant has struggled to bring updates to older wearables in its portfolio.

• Galaxy Watch 4,5 and 6 will now get a small taste of the Wear OS 5-based One UI 6 watch with three new faces.

• The new watch faces include a spatial number, a simple numeral, and an Ultra Info array.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra were the first wearables to debut with Wear OS 5 in July, followed by the Pixel Watch 3 in early September.

The update rolled out to older Pixel watches last week, but some unlucky users quickly discovered that the update left their watch bricked. Google has since rolled back the update, and it’s unclear when it will be available again.

From Samsung, even though it is the first manufacturer to offer Wear the One UI 6 watch based on OS 5 wearables, has struggled to implement updates to legacy wearables in its portfolio. One UI 6 Watch is expected to launch soon, potentially within a month. Meanwhile, to reassure concerned users of older Galaxy wearables, Samsung has decided to make the new Wear OS 5 watch faces available on older Galaxy watches, namely the Galaxy Watch 4, 5, and 6.

As spotted by Sammy Fans (via 9to5Google ), the new watch faces are part of an update to the Galaxy Wearable app with a new “Featured Watch Faces” tab that says “Get new watch faces for OneUI 6.0 Watch.” Tapping the tab will introduce users to new faces.

Three new watch faces to give you a taste of the One UI 6 watch

There are a total of three new watch faces available, namely spatial number, simple numeral and Ultra Info array.

• Spatial number: Numbers constructed from 3D shapes provide a sense of depth against a background that changes color as the second hand moves.

• Simple digital: A clean, simple design that allows you to focus on the time. The seconds are displayed in a circle around the minutes.

• Ultra information board: This watch face puts your health data center stage, with more advanced complications than ever before. You can include up to 7 complications to get as much information as possible at a glance.

While the One UI 6 Watch has not yet been rolled out stably, its beta program is in full swing, with beta 7 for the Watch 6 and beta 6 for the Watch 5 and Watch 4 series “expected to be released soon.” A stable update is expected in October or November.
