Marietta police announce 3 arrests in shooting | News, sports, work

Three people have been arrested in connection with a weekend shooting that injured a woman in Marietta.

Kylar Wilson, 20, of Marietta, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of attempted first-degree murder, Marietta Police Chief Katie Warden said this morning.

Two other suspects – Brendon Pierce, 18, and Ashton Dugan, 20, both of Parkersburg – were arrested Wednesday by Parkersburg police on charges of attempted aggravated assault and tampering with evidence, as well as a second-degree misdemeanor count of obstructing official business. . . They are in custody in West Virginia and are awaiting extradition to Ohio.

The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. on Saturday. Marietta police said at least four people fired weapons at each other in the parking lot of Advance Auto Parts at 220 Greene St. before fleeing the scene. The woman was shot in the face and taken to hospital.

The ranger said this morning that 38 shell casings were found at the scene. She declined to discuss a motive for the incident, saying it was still under investigation.

The victim was not identified, but police said he had been released from the hospital.

Police questioned the fourth suspect but did not arrest him.

“The entire incident is still under investigation.” The guard said. “We had probable cause to arrest three of the four people.”
