The publisher of Melania Trump’s upcoming memoir demanded a $250,000 fee from the former first lady for an interview with CNN, the network reported Thursday.

Skyhorse Publishing reportedly sent a document titled “Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement” to a CNN reporter who requested an interview related to the October release of a book titled “Melania.”

CNN says the document stated that “CNN will pay a licensing fee of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000).”

The network refused to sign the contract. News outlets typically do not pay for interviews, and it is extremely rare for a book author to ask for compensation for an interview related to the book’s publication.

Skyhorse later told CNN that the fee request was a mistake, according to a statement from Tony Lyons, the publisher’s president and CEO.

“Neither Melania nor anyone on her team knew anything about the NDA, and the document sent reflected an internal misunderstanding,” Lyons said, according to CNN.

Newsweek reached out to Skyhorse for comment.
