Who is Travis Kelce’s character on Ryan Murphy’s FX series?

SPOILER ALERT! This post contains details from FX Grotesque.

Travis Kelce is the long-awaited debut in Ryan Murphy’s horror series Grotescaria in episode 3. Until then, although he briefly appeared in the trailer, details about his character were kept secret.

More from Deadline

It turns out that the Kansas City Chiefs player plays Ed “Eddie” Laclan, a nurse at the hospital where Lois Tyron’s (Niecy Nash-Betts) husband, Marshall (Courtney B. Vance), is caring for his comatose husband.

Grotescaria follows Nash-Betts’ Detective Tryon as he investigates a series of heinous crimes in her small community that she quickly comes to find incredibly personal, as if the killer was taunting her. Along the way, she meets some unlikely allies, including Kelce’s Eddie and a journalist nun named Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond).

Episode 3

Lois meets Ed at the end of episode three, after arriving at the hospital to find Nurse Redd (Lesley Manville) treating her husband’s bedsore. Lois has been going through a bit of a crisis lately, and as a result, her battle with alcoholism is getting worse.

Nurse Redd tries to encourage Lois to give power of attorney to Marshall, claiming that Lois is incapable of making decisions regarding her husband’s care. Lois refuses, but the interaction leaves her shocked and she retreats to the hospital’s open-air atrium with a flask and a cigarette to recalibrate.

She is looking for a lighter when suddenly someone lights it behind her. This is Eddie.

He encourages her not to drive, knowing she has been drinking, which Lois ignores. But the two engage in flirtatious banter. He calls her “Miss Sassypants” and she responds to the joke by calling him “Fast Eddie”.

The interaction is brief, but suggests there may be more to come. Their next encounter comes sooner than expected, as Lois crashes her car after leaving the hospital and finds herself within those white walls again – this time as a patient. While she’s talking to a co-worker about being charged with a DUI, Eddie enters the room with a tray of food.

Lois asks Eddie to unlock her handcuffs as she is chained to a hospital bed. At first he pushes away, but with a little persistence Lois gets what he wants. Not only that, but he also helps her get out of the hospital. They sneak out together and drive off into the night.

Episode 4

Lois reunites with Eddie when he leaves the hospital after visiting her husband. For now, it appears the charges against her have been dropped, although Sister Redd is still determined to get that power of attorney. This time, however, he is not dressed as a nurse, which raises a few questions, but Lois doesn’t ask any.

She apologizes for her flaws and Eddie dismisses her, saying he’s only human. As a thank you, Lois offers to bake him a cake, and Eddie suggests that they spend some time together. – You mean on a date? – Lois asks. Eddie replies, “Sure, we can call it that.”

They both leave the hospital. The next thing Lois knows, Eddie has brought her to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Then they eat dinner… and Lois drinks a dirty martini. Eddie encourages her to stop drinking, explaining that his own path to sobriety began after he tore ligaments in a skiing accident. From there he went to Juneau, Alaska, where he worked as a prostitute. Eventually he ended up on the street.

In short, I simply lacked dignity. You know that?” he says, which certainly gives Lois food for thought. “I had to find a reason to live. You? You haven’t lost your dignity. So don’t do it.

He then drops Lois home.

The next time viewers see Eddie, he is practicing yoga in his home when he gets a call from Lois asking for a favor. She wants him to come to her house to talk. Lois’ daughter, Merritt (Raven Goodwin), is very suspicious of Eddie, whom Lois has asked to stay with her daughter for a few days while she is gone, as she and sister Megan (Micaela Diamond) intend to follow a new lead in the murder case.
