BookMyShow files a complaint regarding the unauthorized sale of Coldplay concert tickets

“As part of its ongoing fight against ticket scalping and black marketing of Coldplay Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 tickets in India, BookMyShow has filed a formal FIR (First Information Report) on October 2, 2024,” the statement read.

“This action follows our initial complaint proactively filed with the Mumbai Police on September 23, 2024, wherein we addressed these concerns well before any formal complaint was filed against us. “BookMyShow’s FIR lodged with Mumbai Police also urges the authorities to investigate unauthorized resale of tickets by individuals and platforms,” he added in a statement.

Coldplay’s highly anticipated January 2025 concert in Mumbai was overshadowed by ticket fraud concerns as millions of fans tried to get their hands on a limited number of tickets and turned to social media to vent their anger.

Some tickets were later sold on the black market at much higher prices, leading to an investigation by the Economic Offenses Wing of the Mumbai Police (EOW).

The band will play three shows at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 18, 19 and 21 next year as part of the ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour 2025’.

Earlier this week, the Mumbai Police had recorded the statement of Anil Makhija, chief operating officer, BookMyShow, in connection with the complaint.

The company clarified that Coldplay’s India performances will go ahead as planned. “Reports to the contrary are inconsistent with the facts,” he said.

BookMyShow said it has provided details of all the sellers it has brought to its attention, including independent ticket sellers on social media platforms.

“We remain vigilant in monitoring such incidents of resale of tickets for this route through black market channels and will continue to share all relevant information with the authorities to ensure appropriate action is taken,” he added.
