Charli XCX reacts to Bowen Yang’s impression of her on ‘Saturday Night Live’

Bowen, you can admit that you’re jealous of her.

‘Talk Talk’ Singer Charli XCX Talks Out Bowen Yang’s ‘Talk Talk’ Sketch That Parodies Her Saturday Night Live.

In a recent episode Howard Stern Showthe radio host asked the singer if she took the skit from the Sept. 28 episode “as a compliment or was he just pissed off about it?” “Oh no, no, no, I think SNL is iconic and Troye (Sivan) and I had a feeling it was coming,” Charli replied, perhaps hinting that Yang, who she is friends with, had informed her in advance. “We were very excited about it and I love Bowen and honestly thought he did a great job. I was very impressed with the texture of the hair, I thought it was a really good wig. Yes, it was good. It was nice,” she said.

In the sketch, Yang appears in full Charli attire — loose, flowing curls, a distressed leather minidress and chunky black sunglasses — to host “The Talk Talk Show with Charli XCX,” a play on the singer’s latest song, “Talk Talk.”

“This is my talk show where we talk about everything I talk about,” Yang begins. “As always, with me is Australian young dingo Troye Sivan.” The camera shows Sarah Sherman as a pop star in a white T-shirt and fake abs, spinning records on a DJ rig. Charli and Sivan are currently embarking on their 22-city “Sweat” co-headlining tour and have released a collaborative remix of “Talk Talk” from Charli’s critically acclaimed 2024 album. Brat.

As predicted by Charli, or rather Charlotte Aitchison Brat single “360,” has been “so everywhere” since the album’s release in June. Permutations of the insanely meme album cover (designed by Brent David Freany) spread like wildfire, and “Brat Summer” was coined to describe the lifestyle towards which the album’s 15 bangers were heading, with remixes featuring superstars like Billie Eilish and Lorde topped the charts, and Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign even used this tool Brat Cover aesthetics in promotional materials after Charli posted “Kamala IS a brat” on X.

This pop culture series that eventually hit the Studio 8H stage was just a matter of course.

Sivan was a topic of his own SNL sketch from last November in which a woman (Sherman) experiencing sleep paralysis begins to hallucinate Sivan dancing (host Timothée Chalamet and later members of the band Boygenius, the episode’s musical guests).

“I will never forget this weekend for the rest of my life,” he said Design. “I watched it live with everyone. I thought maybe it would be a short moment, if I was lucky or something. But it’s a full sketch and it’s amazing… I just have to get into it now.”

Fans are keeping their fingers crossed that Charli will be the musical guest in the upcoming episode Saturday Night Live50th season. So far, only the hosts and musical guests for the first five episodes have been announced, but Charli still has time to join the likes of Stevie Nicks and Eilish, who collaborates with her on the “Guess” remix.
