Eric Church Supports Hurricane Helene Victims by Donating Royalties for New Song: ‘They’re in Need’

Eric Church is using his platform for good.

In a press release obtained by Fox News Digital on Friday, the country star announced that he will donate all royalties from his new song “Darkest Hour” to the people of his home state of North Carolina following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helena.

“There are many places in western North Carolina, eastern Tennessee, upstate South Carolina, parts of Georgia and even Florida that have been directly impacted,” Church said in the release. “Especially where I’m from, the mountains of western North Carolina have been devastated. There are places that are simply not in the Bible. These are our family members, our friends, our neighbors – and they are in urgent need of help again.”

“I’m in the studio for a while, trying different things and exploring creativity,” he continued. “I had a song I had written, and in light of the recent devastation, I was struck by the phrase, ‘I’ll run,’ because there are so many people right now who are going through their darkest hour. and they need people to come running.”

“We wanted to wait until next year to release the music, but we just didn’t want to wait with this song,” he added. “Sometimes you give songs their moment, and sometimes they find their own moment.”

Church further added that this song is the “best way” he could think of to help those in need.

“We have been assisting with the efforts on the ground, but this is something that goes beyond immediate recovery,” he said. “There’s no quick fix for this, so I hope ‘Darkest Hour’ can contribute to this for a long time. This song hits home in North Carolina, now and forever.”

Church said the song is dedicated to “unsung heroes, the people who come forward when the world falls apart.”

“This is for the people who show up in the hardest of times, offer help when it’s needed most, and rise up when others can’t,” he continued. “Even in the darkest hour they come running. When the night is darkest, it is for those who hold the light, guide the lost, and pull us through life.”

“The message of this song especially at this time is about Hurricane Helene and people needing help, but more broadly it is about all the difficult times in life that we will all experience,” he concluded. “It’s always good to know that in your darkest hour there are people who will come running and help. I think it’s also important to be one of those people who runs when others need help.”

In a video message posted to YouTube on Friday, Church also asked fans and followers to help him “get as much in touch” with the devastation as possible and do what they can to help – including donating to his Chief Cares fund, which is now directs all his actions. charity events for communities that directly experienced the destruction.

According to to FOX weatherthe death toll continues to rise with at least 215, almost half of which occurred in North Carolina. The hurricane first made landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast and continues to wreak havoc across the Southeast.

Search and rescue operations are underway in areas of western North Carolina that have been isolated after devastating flooding destroyed hundreds of roads and bridges.
