Destiny 2 Vesper’s Host dungeon: release date, competition mode, rewards and more

Joe Pring

Destiny 2’s next major content update, Episode Revenant, arrives on October 8, bringing a refreshed sandbox, new seasonal activities, loot to earn, and a story centered around the big bad of the Scorn, Fikrul.

While there will be no raid for Revenant, the new dungeon, Vesper’s Host, will give Guardians looking for an end-game challenge plenty of reasons to hit the new power cap in 2010. Here’s everything you need to know about the dungeon.

Vesper’s Host Dungeon release date

The Vespers Host has confirmed release date October 11, 2024three days after Revenant’s release. Like the previous version of the Warlord’s Ruin dungeon, players can expect the gates to Vesper’s Host to open daily reset at 6pm BST and 1pm EST.

Vesper’s Host will be released on October 11.

Competition mode and the world’s first race

Like the Competition Mode for Raids, the modifier will be available for 48 hours after the initial release of Host Vesper. Normal Mode will be available as soon as three Fireteams complete Competitive Mode. It is suggested that a power level of 1985 will be the maximum for each encounter.

In Bungie’s outline of what Guardians can expect from Destiny 2’s first dungeon competition mode, we break down the key details.

  • Enemies are more aggressive
  • Encounters use resurrection tokens
  • Some encounters will feature a rage mechanic
  • Character Power does not provide an advantage above the recommended level of 1985.

Completing the Vesper Host in competitive mode will unlock a special emblem and Guaranteed drop of an exclusive exotic item from dungeons. Vesper’s exotic host

The beloved sniper rifle from the original Destiny, Ice Breaker will finally debut in Destiny 2 with Host Vespera as a dedicated exotic drop. It is currently unknown whether the exotic will retain the unique benefits of the original version, but we will update this as soon as it becomes available.

Icebreaker proved problematic in the original Destiny due to the No Backpack trait. An internal feature allowed the weapon to automatically generate ammunition over time rather than having to reload it, essentially providing infinite ammunition.

His second unique perk, Ice Breaker, causes enemies to spontaneously combust upon death. Just like Ice Breaker changed from Solar to Stasis in Destiny 2this effect is likely to change wholesale.

In Destiny 2, Icebreaker’s element has been changed from Solar to Stasis.

Legendary weapons and armor

Outside of Exotics, Bungie has yet to reveal the weapons and armor that can be obtained from Vesper’s Host. This guide will be updated to include any new additions as they become known.

Many players have theorized that since Ice Breaker is a nostalgic throwback to the original Destiny, other loot will be an item that will be reused. Bungie has not indicated that this is the case.
