Big 12 women’s basketball preseason poll: Where Arizona, ASU land

The Big 12 has announced its preseason awards and poll for the 2024-2025 Big 12 women’s basketball season. League coaches voted on awards and a poll and could not vote for their own team. Neither newcomers Arizona nor Arizona State were ranked No. 1, as Kansas State was selected as the favorite in the league’s preseason poll for the first time in program history. Arizona placed seventh, while ASU finished 15th out of 16 teams.

The Wildcats (18-16) reached the NCAA tournament last season and won their first four games, but were eliminated in the opening round. The Sun Devils (11-20) finished their season in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament.

The 2024-25 season begins on Monday, November 4, with league play beginning on Saturday, December 21, as this year’s Conference will be the first to feature 16 members. The regular season will be followed by the 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship, which will be held at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City for the second consecutive season.
