They finally separated in 1992, after a turbulent marriage in which they both committed adultery.

While Prince Charles was with the future Queen Camilla (then Mrs. Parker Bowles), Diana had several lovers.

According to royal expert Tom Quinn, the person, who was never named, was a married politician who was known for his “famous” charm.

In his 2021 book Scandals of the Royal Palaces, he revealed that the politician, whose identity was never revealed, was seen wearing boxers late in the evening by a member of Kensington Palace staff.

According to a former staff member, the lover “walked away” without pants and then was unable to return to Diana’s room because the door closed behind him.

Quinn recalls that he “turned red in the face” when the employee said “good morning” to him.

On other occasions, the lover was allegedly forced to hide behind curtains or in Diana’s bathroom when staff entered her bedroom because the duchess was “embarrassed”.

Quinn said he interviewed an anonymous former Palace employee who said of Diana’s political enthusiast: “But he got caught once – literally with his pants down.”

I don’t know how it happened, but the staff laughed about it for weeks.

Somehow he got up in the night in shorts and walked away until he discovered the door had closed behind him and he couldn’t open it to get back.

Diana quickly realized what had happened and went to look for him, but he was already spotted by an employee who had just said good morning to him and walked past while he froze, red-faced and trying to act like nothing had happened. Badly.’

One of Diana’s employees, Kitty Power, helped the princess secretly bring her lovers into the palace.

She used various techniques, such as saying they were there to discuss work-related issues, Quinn wrote.

Some of Diana’s lovers became famous. One of them was Captain James Hewitt, with whom the princess had a five-year affair after first meeting in 1986.

Perhaps an unlikely suitor was the art dealer Oliver Hoare – a friend of Charles. He was married to a Frenchwoman, Diane de Waldner de Freundstein

Diana confirmed her affair with Hewitt during her infamous 1995 Panorama interview with journalist Martin Bashir.

The relationship ended when he went to serve in the Persian Gulf War.

She then said: β€œYes, I loved him. Yes, I was in love with him. But I was very disappointed.

Another admirer was the art dealer Oliver Hoare, a friend of Charles. He was married to a Frenchwoman, Diane de Waldner de Freundstein.

As Richard Kay previously reported, Oliver and Diana met at a party at Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot in 1985.

The princess was said to be infatuated with the father-of-three and was accused of bombarding his family home with more than 300 phone calls.

Neither Hoare nor Diana ever publicly confirmed the relationship, and the art dealer died in 2019 at the age of 73.

Another former lover was heart surgeon Hasnat Khan. The couple met at the Royal Brompton Hospital when Diana was visiting a friend who was recovering from heart surgery.

They then began a discreet, two-year affair that ended in the early summer of 1997.

In 2008, Khan broke his 11-year silence about the princess and said: “I thought she was a very normal person with wonderful qualities.”

Diana’s last relationship was with film producer Dodi Fayed – the eldest son of the disgraced Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed.

They dated for about two months before they died in a car accident in Paris in 1997.
