Two more AL, Jubo League leaders were arrested in connection with Emon’s murder

Last night, police arrested two more Awami League and Jubo League leaders from Pallabi thana area of the city in connection with the killing of Emon during a shooting during an anti-discrimination student movement.

Those arrested are – General Secretary of Pallabi’s AL Branch No. 2, Md Akbar Hossain Jony and leader of Jubo League No. 3, Md Deen Islam.

Police arrested the duo in Pallabi district on Saturday evening, according to a press release from the Detective Branch of the police.

Police arrested them because video footage from the scene and adjacent areas revealed their involvement in Emon’s murder, she added.

The detainees were sent to court.

Earlier on October 3, police arrested Pallabi rather than Jubo League legal secretary Sheikh Mohammad Wasim for his involvement in Emon’s murder.

A press release said that on August 4, Emon Hossain Akash took part in an anti-discrimination student movement in front of the Popular Diagonistic Center at Mipur 10.

Leaders and activists of the AL and its affiliated bodies allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on protesters, resulting in Emon suffering serious gunshot wounds.

Emon was taken to the local Azmal Hospital, where the doctors on duty pronounced him dead.

A murder case was lodged at Pallabi police station on August 27.
