Apple will reportedly release iOS 18.1 with Apple Intelligence features on October 28

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to publicly release iOS 18.1 on October 28, which will include some of the first Apple Intelligence features.

This flies in the face of previous expectations for a mid-October launch, but Gurman says that’s because the company is taking its time to iron out any bugs as well as making sure its private cloud compute servers can handle all the millions of traffic users public users installing the update.

iOS 18.1 Features

With the potential release of iOS 18.1 on October 28, this means iPhone 16 users will finally be able to use some of the promised Apple Intelligence features just over a month after the phone’s launch. Although some of the features available in iOS 18.1 may not be the most attractive.

Once the update is installed, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 users will be able to try out the following features:

• Writing tools
• New Siri interface (though the truly new experience won’t come until later)
• Notification summaries
• Creating memory in photos
• Clean up your photos
• Smart breakthrough with notifications

Implementation of Apple Intelligence

However, some of the more attractive features are still ahead and will be slowly rolled out between now and spring:

• October: iOS 18.1 with the features listed above
• December: iOS 18.2 with support for ChatGPT, Genmoji and Image Playground
• Early 2025: iOS 18.3 or iOS 18.4 with new version of Siri

So, even though new features are starting to be rolled out, it will take a long time before everything is fully implemented. We hope that all Apple Intelligence features will be fully implemented by the time the new iPhone SE 4 is released.
