The Bills finally hit a wall. After starting 3-0, Buffalo struggled mightily against the Ravens on Sunday Night Football, losing to Baltimore 35-10. They will look to get back into the win column on Sunday when they take on the Texans in Houston.

It wasn’t the prettiest game for the Texans in Week 4, but a late touchdown pass to Dare Ogunbowale helped Houston outscore the Jaguars 24-20.

The start of Sunday’s competition has been called 1:00 p.m. ET (10:00 a.m. PT) on CBS. Here’s how you can watch or stream the live broadcast even if the game isn’t available on your local CBS channel.

The game will be televised in New York and Texas (per 506 Sports) and beyond live television broadcast services, but you may be blocked due to an internet location error. There is an option that doesn’t require subscribing to something like NFL Sunday Ticket or NFL Plus or searching the Internet for a suspicious website: you can use a virtual private network.

Here’s how you can watch the game from anywhere in the US with a VPN.

If you can’t watch the game locally due to obfuscation restrictions incorrectly appliedyou may need a different way to watch the game, and that’s when using a VPN may come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to prevent your ISP from throttling your speeds on game day by encrypting your traffic, and it’s a great idea if you’re traveling and connected to a Wi-Fi network and want to add an extra layer of privacy to your devices and logins.

With a VPN, you can virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to access the game. So if your ISP or mobile carrier has stuck you with an IP address that incorrectly shows your location in an exclusion zone, a VPN can solve this problem by giving you an IP address in the correct, unblocked area. Most VPNs like ours Editor’s Choice, ExpressVPNwill make it really easy.

Using a VPN to watch or stream sports events is legal in any country where VPNs are legal, including the US and Canada, provided you have a legal subscription to the service you’re streaming from. You should make sure your VPN is configured correctly to prevent leaks: even if VPNs are legal, the streaming service can terminate the account of anyone it deems to be bypassing properly applied blackout restrictions.

Many other live TV streaming services also offer local CBS stations, namely YouTube TV, Hulu Plus Live TV, DirecTV Stream, and Fubo. They all cost significantly more than Paramount Plus, but they also offer plenty of live channels, including football channels like Fox and ESPN. If you live in an area where the game is broadcast, an over-the-air antenna connected to your TV is another option for CBS. The best thing about antennas is that there are no streaming or monthly fees required, although you do need to make sure you have good reception.

Quick Tips for Streaming Bills vs. Texans using a VPN

  • Considering four variables – your ISP, browser, video streaming provider and VPN – your experience and success can vary.
  • If you don’t see your chosen location as the default option for ExpressVPN, try using the “search city or country” option.
  • If you’re having trouble launching your game after turning on your VPN and setting the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try to fix quickly. First, sign in to your streaming subscription account and make sure the address registered on your account is in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address on your account. Secondly, some smart TVs – like Roku – don’t have VPN apps that you can install directly on the device. Instead, you need to install a VPN on the router or mobile hotspot you’re using (e.g. your phone) so that each device on its Wi-Fi network now appears in the correct display location.
  • All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their homepages on how to quickly install a VPN on your router. In some cases with Smart TV services, after installing a cable sports app, you will be asked to verify a numeric code or click a link sent to your email address on file with your Smart TV. Having a VPN on your router will also help in this case, as both devices will appear to be in the correct locations.
  • Also remember that browsers can often reveal your location despite using a VPN, so make sure you log in to your services using a privacy-first browser. We usually recommend Bold.
