In September, BGB seized smuggled goods worth CZK 253.56

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized arms, ammunition, drugs and other smuggled items worth Tk 253.56 crore during anti-smuggling operations across the country, especially in border areas in September.

During this period, the paramilitary forces seized 26,753 kg of gold, 10 kg of silver, 2,999 kg of snake venom, 2,94,482 cosmetic items, 25,442 deer, 11,620 pieces of three-piece/shirts/sheets/blankets, 80,016 meters of unstitched fabric, 1,978 cft of wood, 24,667 kg of tea leaves, 4,77,450 kg of sugar, 4,041 kg of fertilizers, 111,980 cubic feet of coal, 12,900 mobile displays, 1,960 glasses, 30,687 kg of yarn/electric net, 45,612 kg of betel nuts, 28,416 kg of fish, 3,774 kg of onion, 37,617 kg of garlic, 4,604 kg of cumin, one touchstone, 9 trucks, 17 pickup trucks, 7 private cars/microbuses, 8 carts, 191 boats, 21 CNG vehicles/easybikes, 108 motorcycles and 21 bicycles – it was reported in a BGB press release on Sunday (October 6).

The drugs and narcotics seized include 12,82,943 pieces of Yaba tablets, 9,413 kg of crystal ice, 16,874 kg of heroin, 29,164 bottles of Phencidyl, 20,638 bottles of foreign alcohol, 137 liters of Bengali liqueur, 1,347 cans of beer, 1,998 kg of cannabis, 89 044 packs of cigarettes, 2,62,701 narcotic tablets/injections, 3,772 bottles of Iscaf syrup, 25.44 kg of cocaine, 630 bottles of Mkdil/Cofidil, 3,07,580 different types of drugs, 84,09,480 tablets of Enegra/Senegra, 13 As per the release , bottles of LSD and 38,655 other pills.

The seized weapons consist of two handguns, one handgun, 10 cocktails and seven rounds of ammunition.

Meanwhile, legal proceedings have been initiated against 241 alleged smugglers, 298 Bangladeshi nationals and 24 Indian nationals for illegally crossing the border during this period.

Additionally, according to the press release, 1,621 Myanmar nationals were repatriated after their detention
