President Russell M. Nelson announces construction of 17 new temples

President Russell M. Nelson announced the construction of 17 new temples in 11 countries, making temple ordinances and services available to more Church members around the world.

New temples will be built in the following locations:

  • Juchitán de Zaragoza, Mexico
  • Santa Ana, El Salvador
  • Medellín, Colombia
  • Santiago, Dominican Republic
  • Puerto Montt, Chile
  • Dublin, Ireland
  • Milan, Italy
  • Abuja, Nigeria
  • Kampala, Uganda
  • Maputo, Mozambique
  • Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
  • Queen Creek, Arizona
  • El Paso, Texas
  • Huntsville, Alabama
  • Milwaukee, Wisconsin
  • Summit, New Jersey
  • Price, Utah

According to A Church press releaseWith this announcement, the total number of dedicated, under construction and announced temples will increase to 367.

“My dear brothers and sisters, do we see what is happening before our eyes?” said President Nelson. “I pray that we do not miss the majesty of this moment. The Lord indeed speeds up His work.”

During his Sunday afternoon talk, Elder Ronald A. Rasband said President Nelson has announced the establishment of 168 temples since he became Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2018.

President Nelson attended two sessions of General Conference in October 2024 – on Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon.
