As Kody began to deal with the loss of his polygamy, many of Christine and Janelle’s children began to distance themselves from their father. According to Kody, some of them have “rejected me” since the split.

“They’re deliberately cutting me out of their lives to punish me for a crime I didn’t commit,” Kody told Robyn, 45, during the episode. “I’m only to blame for not falling madly in love with their mothers.”

Kody then clarified that he “never said he didn’t love Janelle,” even though their daughter Maddie claimed he did. “It’s some rumor that started in the family and it’s just so divisive,” Kody told cameras, claiming that “our family has been killed by rumors.”

However, Robyn couldn’t accept that Kody wasn’t taking more initiative in reconnecting with his children in times of need.

“I will not abandon my children,” Kody insisted. “They betrayed,” he argued, noting that it may have happened “unintentionally,” but that’s how he feels.

Robyn explained that no matter what, they are Kody’s kids and he needs to step up. “I think Kody should be camping outside their door and saying, ‘Hey, will you talk to me?'” Robyn told cameras. “Because sometimes it’s just the right thing to do.”

Kody confessed that he was “heartbroken” after all the upheaval in their extended family, telling Robyn that he wanted to get to a “better place” with her and then focus on the kids.

“I don’t intend to stay in touch forever. I am ready to make this effort, but someone else will have to stand on the other side and also make some effort,” he later said in a confessional. “I’m not going to set up camp on someone’s doorstep.”

Sister Wives airs on TLC on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET.
