Bookings are underway for Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, Vettaiyan starrer

Rajinikanth is gearing up for the release of his much-awaited crime action thriller Vettaiyan. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, the superstar reunites with his Andha Kanoon co-star Amitabh Bachchan. Vettaiyan will hit theaters on October 10.

Emotions are huge and fans are eagerly waiting for the film. Pre-sale of tickets for the film has also started. In most cities, advance reservation is available and tickets sell out very quickly. On Thursday, one of the cinemas in Chennai, AGS Cinemas T Nagar, is already fully booked. The film is said to set a record in pre-sales.

Expectations are quite high even in Kerala. According to reports on Twitter ‘Friday Matinee’, the pre-sales of the Rajinikanth-starring action film in Kerala have reportedly fetched around Rs 50 lakh. It also reports that nearly 26,000 tickets have now been sold in the state.

Earlier, a trailer of the film was also released online, which aroused great expectations among viewers. It features both megastars in an epic fight. The trailer begins with a police investigation into the murder and rape of a woman. Rajinikanth is portrayed as a brutal criminal who targets women. The trailer also introduces the characters played by Fahadh Faasil and Rana Daggubati.

Vettaiyan has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which means it is an unrestricted film for audiences but requires parental supervision for children below 12 years of age.

The film, with the support of Lyca Productions, will feature two great megastars of Indian cinema – Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan. This means the stars’ on-screen collaboration after 32 long years. The duo has shared screen space in several films like Hum, Andhaa Kanoon and Geraftaar. This is Amitabh’s Telugu debut and Rajinikanth’s 170th film.

Vettaiyan will also feature Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, Ritika Singh, Anirudh Ravichander, Rao Ramesh and others. The production is being done on a budget of Rs 160 crore. The film was shot by SR Kathir and edited by Philomin Raj. The film will be released on October 10 on the occasion of Dussehra.
