Mariah Carey shares a behind-the-scenes video showing the moments before her “angelic” AMA performance

The American star amazed the audience with a performance of one of his most beloved hits.

Mariah Carey amazed viewers at yesterday’s American Music Awards (AMA) when she took part in a glamorous ceremony celebrating her 50th anniversary.

The two-hour special aired on CBS, with stars including Nelly, Chingy, J-Kwon and St Lunatics crooning “I’m Every Woman” from “Chaka Khan.”

Yesterday’s program also showed the most important moments of the ceremony over the years, and performances by artists such as Nile Rodgers, Gladys Knight and Green Day turned out to be hits.

But it was Mariah Carey’s dazzling performance as she stepped out through the pink M that really left the audience stunned.

Taking to the pink and glitter-decorated stage to kick off her anniversary performance and celebrate her 2005 album The Emancipation Of Mimi, Mariah wowed in a satin dress.

The mother of two looked stunning and sounded “angelic” as she crooned her beloved hit “We Belong Together.”

At the end of her performance, she even said “I love you” to the audience.

Reacting to the performance in real time, fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to marvel at the singer’s timeless appearance and vocal talent.

“Mariah looks and sounds amazing,” one person wrote as she walked out on stage.

Another person added: “Wow, I’m thrilled that Mariah really ate up her amazing performance. Her stage presence was amazing!”

Meanwhile, after the performance, Mariah posted photos from the stage and a behind-the-scenes video on her Instagram.

“GREAT,” Kris Jenner swooned while commenting on a slew of photos.

“The only one that made the audience sing along,” another person enthused.

“A legend, an icon and an eternal moment,” wrote a third.

Then a fourth person swooned: “So beautiful and angelic.”

“Unparalleled!!! This is all… UNPARALLELED,” an excited fifth wrote.

A sixth person went on to say that they thought Mariah “looks fantastic” and “sounds even better,” adding that her social media team has done a great job making sure she’s visible “everywhere.”

“This performance is everything!!! And you look stunning as always, MC,” said a seventh.

Another added touchingly: “You will always deserve all the tributes in this world! I love you!”

A LOOK FROM BEHIND THE SCENES

In a video clip that Mariah shared with Instagram snaps, the hitmaker can be seen sitting in a golf cart on her way to the show.

Sitting in a car in a satin dress, Mariah looked stunning as she greeted the person filming.

The clip then shows the singer fixing her hair and makeup before cutting back to her singing on stage.

A BRAVE FACE AFTER HORRIBLE LOSSES

Mariah’s AMA appearance came just weeks after she suffered two devastating losses.

On August 26, 2024, Mariah revealed to People magazine that her mother Patricia and sister Alison died on the same day.

“It breaks my heart that I lost my mother last weekend,” she told the outlet at the time.

“Unfortunately, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life the same day.

“I feel blessed that I was able to spend one last week with my mom before she passed away.”

“I appreciate everyone’s love, support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time,” she concluded.
