The Cleveland Guardians score today in Game 2 against the Detroit Tigers ALDS

CLEVELAND — The Rangers started the 2024 postseason with a bang. Now they will try to maintain it.

After defeating the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of the American League Division Series in a five-inning first inning, Game 2 pits Tarik Skubal – the likely AL Cy Young winner – against former longtime Tiger Matthew Boyd.

The Tigers attacked the Rangers with their “chaos on the pitch” strategy, but with Skubal on the mound, they’ll be hoping to get six or seven innings from their ace.

Tyler Freeman is struggling with a strained left ankle and will be replaced by Angel Martinez on the bench. The Rangers liked Freeman’s appearance at the end of the season and needed a player at an additional utility position. Martinez replaces that role with a switch option.
