The Wolverines ran past Northwood to win the exhibition

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Michigan women’s basketball team had all 10 players find the scoring column in an 81-52 exhibition win over Northwood on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 27) at the Crisler Center.

Olivia Olsen led the way for the Maize and Blue, scoring 22 points with a game-high 10 rebounds for a double-double. Mila Holloway added 15 points in just 18 minutes, with Syla Sword contributing seven points, three boards, five assists and one steal in 21 minutes. Brooke Q. Daniels chipped in eight points, six boards and five steals as UM picked up 24 points off the bench. Michigan shot 41.1 percent from the floor and held Northwood to 30.9 percent shooting.

Michigan took a 22-14 lead after 10 minutes as Northwood capitalized on eight free throws to offset its three made field goals on 17.6 percent shooting. UM led by as many as 12 points in the frame, backed by eight points from Holloway.

The Wolverines extended their lead to as many as 20 points in the second quarter and took a 41-21 lead with 3:35 left before the half. Northwood went on a 9-2 run to close the half and sent Michigan to the locker room with a 43-30 lead.

Michigan outscored Northwood 19-14 in the third quarter with eight points from Olson and four each from Daniels and Yulia Grabovskaia to a 57-44 lead after 30 minutes.

It was all Michigan in the final stanza as the Wolverines held the Timberwolves to just eight points while putting up 19 of their own for a 29-point margin.

UM kicks off the regular season in Las Vegas next week (Nov. 4) and faces defending national champion South Carolina in the Hall of Fame Showcase. Tip-off is set for 4:30 PM PST and the game will be televised nationally on TNT.
