PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The heat actually came yesterday if you didn’t step outside all day.

Yesterday’s high hit 78° and that was just two degrees off the record of 80° set in 1900. Today’s high is 82° also set in 1900.

Did you know that there is a medically diagnosed disorder for people who have an abnormally excessive and persistent fear of heat, including hot weather? Its clinical name is thermophobia. I don’t think emergency rooms will be rushed by people afraid of the heat this Halloween, but that may be the scariest thing about the weather.

The record high for Halloween in Pittsburgh is 79° set back in 1950. I have us hitting 80°.

Our next rain chance will come late Thursday night in the overnight hours. While I can’t guarantee you’ll be dry during the trick-or-treat hours, the rain at that time will be isolated and light. Our rainfall amounts will probably only be about a tenth of an inch.

Thermophobes rejoice, your October dreads will be gone as we roll into November.

Temperatures will drop to just the upper 50s on Friday with breezy conditions in the morning. Friday lows will hit just before midnight Saturday, bottoming out in the low 40s and heading for a Saturday low of around 38°. Saturday looks dry and seasonable with temperatures near 60 degrees.

There is now a chance of rain through Sunday with light showers expected to pass through.
