Chelsea confirm line-up against Newcastle United | News | Official site

Chelsea have made 11 changes to our starting line-up for tonight’s Carabao Cup round of 16 clash with Newcastle United.

Enzo Maresca has attempted to make changes to his side for the Carabao Cup and Conference League so far this season as he looks to manage his players’ busy workload and give his talented squad opportunities to impress.

And the Italian has done the same once again after Sunday’s 2-1 win over the Magpies in the Premier League.

Filip Jorgensen continues his role as our cup goalkeeper for now and will be protected by a back four of Axel Disasi, Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile and Marc Cucurella.

The midfield looks set to be Renato Veiga and Enzo Fernandez who captain the team, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk in the more advanced roles.

Christopher Nkunku – who has already scored eight goals this season in six starts and eight substitute appearances – is set to lead the line again, having replaced the in-form Nicolas Jackson.

The Blues’ bench is full of quality, with Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, Levi Colwill, Cesare Casadei, Carney Chukwuemeka, Ben Chilwell and Marc Guiu among the substitutes. Jadon Sancho has not traveled due to illness.

Our opponents Newcastle United have made five changes to their line-up as Chelsea academy graduate Lewis Hall retains his place.

Anthony Gordon has recovered from the groin injury that kept him out of Sunday’s game, with Emil Krafth, Lloyd Kelly, Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock the other players brought in by Eddie Howe.
