Dodger fans celebrate in Los Angeles, Southern California after World Series victory

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Fans across the Southland on Wednesday night went wild as the Dodgers beat the Yankees to win their eighth World Series title in franchise history.

Several crowds turned out in Los Angeles — Whittier Boulevard in East LA, downtown, near Dodger Stadium in Elysian Park and more — to celebrate the championship win.

The LAPD later issued a dispersal order in the area of ​​Sunset Boulevard and Vin Scully Avenue near Dodger Stadium and at 9th and Flower streets. In East LA, authorities also declared an illegal assembly and attempted to disperse the crowd.

AIR7 was over town capturing fans in Dodger gear waving flags and taking over intersections.

Just after At 11 p.m., police on horseback and dozens of others in riot gear began trying to clear a crowd near Broadway and 5th Street downtown.

Some people in the area were later seen breaking into what appeared to be a Nike store and leaving with boxes of merchandise.

AIR7 also caught several instances of street takeovers where cars did donuts and burned out.

As fireworks began to light up the night sky, other fans celebrated by lining up at DICKS Sporting Goods in Pasadena to win championship merchandise.

Meanwhile, part of the Hollywood sign was also lit up as a tribute to the Dodgers — it was just one of many LA landmarks that took on a Dodger blue color to celebrate the big Game 5 win.

Fans at Cosm in Inglewood erupted in cheers as the finale was taped. As many as 1,400 people packed the room on three levels to see Boys in Blue on one of the biggest screens in town.

“It didn’t look good, but these Dodgers never give up,” said Canrado Guerrero of Lincoln Heights. “And we as fans never gave up either.”

Fans at Cosm in Inglewood erupted in cheers as the final out was recorded and the Dodgers won the championship.

On Friday, a parade will be held to celebrate the Dodgers’ championship victory.
