Officials report high turnout for early voting in Sussex County

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. – Early voting for the 2024 general election is underway in Delaware, and will continue until November 3, the Sunday before the election.

Local election officials said early voting turnout so far has been incredible, with Sussex County seeing 30,000 ballots cast in the first three days.

A turnout of 30,000 in just three days is more than the county saw for its entire early voting period in the 2022 midterms.

“We had a turnout of 16,000 people on the first day, which was a bit overwhelming. But they managed to get everyone through, and everyone was given the opportunity to vote. And that’s definitely a statewide record. So we are very pleased with that,” said Bo McDowell, Sussex County Department of Elections Director.

McDowell added that the high turnout in Sussex County could lead to them adding more early voting locations in future elections.
